Winnie The Pooh

winnie_the_pooh

It’s been awhile since the beloved character Winnie The Pooh has graced our movie or television screens, but the silly old bear is back in an all new film.

“Winnie The Pooh” is a brand new adventure that follows Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, Roo and Christopher Robin as they embark on an adventure in the Hundred Acre Wood.

The film is based on five of AA Milne’s original stories. The stories are all banded together to create one big adventure with many different subplots. Winnie The Pooh spends most of the film hungry as he is constantly searching for honey which he just can’t seem to get his hands on. The whole Hundred Acre Wood crew misinterpret a note left by Christopher Robin and believe he has been kidnapped by an evil monster named the “Backson”. So the whole gang come together to help capture the beast. Eeyore is a little more depressed than usual because he has lost his tail and all his friends try to find a new tail for him but nothing seems to work out and Tigger tries to make Eeyore his “Tigger two” but Eeyore reminds him that “the most wonderful thing about Tiggers, is that Tigger is the only one'”.

Before I watched the film I thought that the film would be a collection of five different stories that are just connected but was pleasantly surprised that the film is in fact one feature film. The film still maintains that wonderful innocence that all of the Winnie The Pooh previous films and television series had and handles the legendary characters with care, making them more suitable for the twenty first century but not ignoring each characters legacy.

The music of the film is wonderfully done with Disney enlisting singer/ actress Zooey Deschanel to lend her vocals to the films soundtrack. Zooey sings the famous “Winnie The Pooh” song and other songs in the film. She also wrote and sings the end credits song “So Long” which is a fun song that fits well into the Winnie The Pooh universe.

Bonus Features on the Blu-ray release include the featurette “Winnie The Pooh and His Story Too” which shows the history of the character, from his creation to his legacy in the Disney universe. Also included is deleted scenes and two bonus shorts “The Ballad of Nessie” and “Mini Adventures of Winnie The Pooh: Pooh’s Balloon”. The Blu-ray also includes a bonus feature which gives you tips on creating a Winnie The Pooh nursery, a “Sing Along With The Movie” feature and Disney’s Song Selection. The DVD release includes the bonus short "”The Ballad of Nessie” and the deleted scenes.

With fantastic animation and legendary characters that everybody loves “Winnie The Pooh” is a welcome addition to the world of Winnie The Pooh. Available now exclusively at Big W from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.
