To coincide with the 3D cinematic release and the Blu-Ray/ DVD Diamond Edition release of the Disney classic “The Lion King”, Walt Disney Records has released the “Best of The Lion King” compilation album.
The album features tracks from all the films from the franchise “The Lion King”, “The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride” and “The Lion King 1 1/2” (Released as “The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata” in Australia). It also includes tracks from the CD compilation “Rhythm of The Pride Lands” and the original cast recording of “The Lion King On Broadway”.
The album opens with the iconic track “Circle of Life” from the films unforgettable opening sequence. Also included from the original film are the songs “I Just Can’t Wait To be King”, “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and “Hakuna Matata”. The track “Digga Tunnah Dance”, taken from the latest film in the franchise “The Lion King 1 1/2” is more upbeat and fun infused with the original African-influenced sounds from the original film with a more dance-orientated sound.
The tracks from the Broadway musical are performed by the Broadway cast who definitely hold up against the original performers. The tracks from the second film of the franchise “The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride” still have the African-influenced sound from the original film and work very well in the world of “The Lion King”.
With fantastic vocals and the amazing sounds of Africa included in each track, “Best of The Lion King” is a fantastic CD for both children and adults. Available now from Walt Disney Records and Universal Music Australia.
