British superstar Duffy returns with her second album “Endlessly”.
“Endlessly” is a follow-up to Duffy’s debut and critically acclaimed album “Rockferry”, though this album hasn’t received as much critical acclaim as it’s predecessor.
The album opens with a fun track “My Boy” in which Duffy explains her relationship with a younger man. The song is bouncy and is a standout on the album.
The album is a jukebox of different styles. The sixties influence is obvious in every track and it works well. The lead single “Well Well Well” is a good choice for a lead single as it showcases well what vibe you will hear on the album and the chorus is fun to sing along with.
“Endlessly” also has it’s inclusion of ballads. “Too Hurt To Dance” is a slow downed track that, when you listen to it, you can picture Duffy at a school dance sitting in the corner and singing to herself. The music video writes itself. “Don’t Forsake Me” is a great lyrical track that is all about being underestimated.
A standout on the album is the track “Lovestruck”. Although all the songs include a sixties vibe, “Lovestruck” has a more seventies feel to it. It’s electro pop reminiscent of the great seventies disco tracks with a little bit of eighties flair.
With a mix of pop that sounds as if it has been written in a different era Duffy’s “Endlessly” is an album that’s great to listen to when you’re just doing nothing. Available now from A&M Records and Universal Music Australia.
