Disney Princess Christmas Album

To celebrate the holidays this compilations featuring all-new recordings from your favourite Disney Princesses was released.

The album consists of fourteen songs each sung by either an individual princess or the Princess together. Each song is either a traditional Christmas carol given a unique "Princess" twist or a completely new Christmas song.

Almost every Disney Princess is clearly represented. All the Princesses appear on "Christmas Is Coming!" and "The Twelve Days of Christmas". Snow White, who is more prominent on the album, is featured, along with some of the Dwarfs, on "Christmas Eve Dinner", "A Holly Jolly Christmas" and "The Night Before Christmas". Ariel is featured on "Christmas In The Ocean" and "Ariel's Christmas Island". Cinderella appears on "I'm Giving Love For Christmas" and "It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year". Belle is featured on the songs "Holidays At Home" and "The Christmas Waltz". Princess Aurora (though in the linear credits is credited as "Sleeping Beauty") appears on the song "Christmas With My Prince". Mulan is featured on the song "The Holly and The Ivy" and Pocahontas appears on the song "Silver and Gold".

Although Snow White is the Princess who is given the most solo tracks, and the most cover art (her songs were probably my least favourite. The songs were all very similar and the vocals provided by the singing actress who voices Snow White on the album is way too high. But I guess she is trying hard to emulate the voice of the original Snow White in the original 1930's animated theatrical film.

Ariel's track "Christmas In The Ocean", which she duets with Sebastian is a favourite. It's a more upbeat song that reflects on the reggae sound of the original film.

My favourite song from the album is Mulan's solo track "The Holly and The Ivy". It is a modern take on the traditional film and possibly the most modern track on the album. Although it has clear influences from the Asian culture it also has a pop sound to it, which I liked.

The album isn't necessarily for the older audience, as each Princess really sings to whoever is listening and it's obvious they're singing to a child. They're are some songs that are fun to listen too but it is more for the young, or the very young at heart. Available now from Walt Disney Records and Universal Music Australia.
