The Last Song

Miley Cyrus has become a global phenomenon as Hannah Montana. "The Last Song" has been used to help her be distanced from the character and to help herself appeal to the older audience.

The film follows Ronnie (Miley Cyrus) a rebellious teenager who, along with her younger brother, are sent to live with her Father Steve (Greg Kinnear) for the summer. During the summer she falls for Will (Liam Hemsworth) and has a summer romance whilst reconnecting with her father.

Miley tries her best to express all the emotions Ronnie goes through and you can see the instant connection between the characters of Ronnie and Will. Although Miley is in the starring role I don't think you can look past the performance Greg Kinnear gives in the film. He has been praised for his work in the film and I can see why. He plays the role with ease even with the range of scenes and emotions required for the role.

Music plays a big part in the film. Ronnie and Steve both have a passion for playing classical piano and Miley plays a fantastic piano version of "When I Look At You". The soundtrack also includes a great range of songs from the lead star Miley Cyrus with her single "When I Look At You" to Hollywood Records' newest act Allstar Weekend.
The DVD comes with a range of bonus features including the music video for the soundtracks lead single "When I Look At You" as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film and the making of the music video for "When I Look At You". Also included is a fun outtake reel and audio commentary.

As Miley's first starring role in a live-action film seperate from the Hannah Montana franchise it is a great inclusion to your DVD if you're a Miley Cyrus fan. But along with the star that is Miley Cyrus comes an inspirational film with a wonderful story about music and first loves. Available now from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.
