Inspired by the famous "Fantasia" sequence "A Sorcerer's Apprentice" releases on DVD.
The film stars Jay Baruchel ("She's Out of My League") as Dave Sutler, who inherits Merlin's magical powers. With the guidance of a powerful sorcerer, Balthazar Blake (Nicholas Cage, "National Treasure") Dave learns everything he needs to know about sorcery. But it's not all fun and games as Balthazar must prepare Dave for the rise of an evil Sorceress Morgana le Fay with her partner in crime, and Balthazar's former friend, Maxim Horath.

The film is filled with an array of special effects. One notable effort is the final scene, in which the evil sorceress "rises" and the battle between Balthazar, Dave and Morgana takes place. The special effects can only be described as "magical", and the way Morgana is portrayed, in a "soul" form, looks amazing.
Another notable scene is the "Fantasia" inspired scene in which Dave brings a bunch of mops to life to help him clean his "lair". It's a fantastic scene, especially for the avid Disney fan who will enjoy the familiarity of the scene and the CGI work is done really well. It's not an exact replica of the famous sequence from Walt Disney's "Fantasia", it's an updated, modern version of a beloved classic.
Also included is the bonus features "The Making of The Sorcerer's Apprentice", which takes you behind the scenes of the making of the "Fantasia" scene and a deleted scene. Disney's FastPlay is also included.
With magical special effects and a little bit of humour, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is a fantastic family film that an audience of any age can enjoy. Available now from Walt Disney Home Entertainment.
