Bevery Hills Chihuahua 2

beverlyFollowing from the original film “Bevery Hills Chihuahua”, comes the sequel “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2”.

The film follows the famous dogs from the first film, Papi (voiced by George Lopez) and Chloe (Odette Yustman, replacing original voice actress Drew Barrymore) who are now married and are trying to keep up with their new litter of puppies. Their owners are away in the Amazon rainforest so it’s up to Sam Cortez, Papi’s owner to look after the whole group.

Whilst under Sam’s care, the dogs discover that Sam’s family will lose their house if they don’t pay their mortgage which they’ve been struggling to pay. In order to win a cash prize the dogs decide to compete in a dog show against previous winner Marie Appoline Bouvier (Bridgit Mendler).

To be completely honest, I never watched the first film in full. I found it insanely boring and I couldn’t find it in myself to finish watching the film. So I didn’t have high expectations for this film. I think having low expectations was a positive as it isn’t half bad but it’s not Oscar-worthy stuff here. What you have here is a film that will easily entertain a young audience.

One of the main points that I was disappointed with was the fact that only George Lopez is the only returning cast member from the previous film. Jamie Lee Curtis, Piper Perabo and Drew Barrymore all opted not to return. To make up for this there is a fair few appearances from Disney Channel stars. These included Bridgit Mendler from Disney Channel’s “Good Luck Charlie” voicing Marie Appoline Bouvier and “Hannah Montana” ‘s Emily Osment voicing one of Papi and Chloe’s puppies.

Special features include outtakes and an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure”, a spin-off from the massively successful “High School Musical” franchise starring Ashley Tisdale.

If you’re looking for a simple family film that will entertain young ones this is a DVD for your collection. Available now from Walt Disney Home Entertainment.
