Now available on DVD is Disney Channel’s latest original film “Lemonade Mouth”.
The film stars Disney Channel favourites Bridgit Mendler (“Good Luck Charlie”) and Adam Hicks (“Zeke and Luther”) as they, along with other students, create a school band. The band is made up of Olivia, the lead singer of the group, Wen, the keyboard player, Stella, the lead guitar, Mo plays bass and Charlie plays drums.
The students meet in detention and, with the help from their music teacher Miss Reznick, they decide to create a band to represent students without a voice and to let everybody be heard.
The band runs into trouble though with a rival band lead by the schools jocks, who the schools funds are going to. In a school where all funding goes to sports and not to the creative arts Lemonade Mouth make it their mission to bring awareness to the importance of the creative arts. They adopt an old lemonade vending machine as their mascot as, like themselves and other students, it is underappreciated.
The film is a great addition to the list of Disney Channel original films. It has more of an edgier tone rather than the “High School Musical” inspired Disney Channel musicals. The music in the film is also a winner. You will find yourself singing along to “Determinate”, which I believe is the strongest song featured in the film. Other songs such as “Somebody” and “Breakthrough” are just as worthy, fun and great to sing along with.
Bonus features on the “Extended Edition” DVD include a new scene in the film that wasn’t featured in the original film when it was broadcast on the Disney Channel. Also included on the DVD is a “Rock Along Feature” where you can sing along with the film with on screen lyrics, and Disney’s FastPlay.
With a fantastic story about individuality and the importance of being who you are and fun music, Disney Channel’s “Lemonade Mouth” is a great addition to your DVD collection. Available now from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.
