Marketed as a "sequel" to their previous musical effort "The E.N.D.", The Black Eyed Peas return with their latest album "The Beginning".
The album is filled with party-worthy tracks and differs from dance, to rock and also includes some inspirational tracks. There's one main criticism to note though. Not enough Fergie. There's no denying that Fergie is the main attraction of the band. But it seems wil.i.am is using this album as a vehicle for himself. wil.i.am reigns supreme on almost every song leaving little for the other band members. I can't even remember how many times I heard Taboo because he seemed so absent from the album.
The album's lead single "The Time (Dirty Bit)" opens the album. At first listen of the song I wasn't exactly ecstatic about the track but with further listening I enjoyed it. Standout tracks would be "Love You Long Time", "The Situation" and "Everything Wonderful". I pretty much enjoyed most the tracks that featured Fergie because she is obviously my favourite member of the group.
Also included with the Deluxe Edition is a bonus disc with the five singles released from "The E.N.D"; "Boom Boom Pow", "I Gotta Feeling", "Meet Me Halfway", "Imma Be" and "Rock That Body".
Co-founder of the group wil.i.am explained the title as being a new beginning for the music from the group. But in all honesty it doesn't really differ from "The E.N.D". That's not saying it doesn't have a bunch of enjoyable music on it, because it does, it just isn't anything new from The Black Eyed Peas. The album does have some obvious chart hits and plenty of songs to dance around too but I think the mic should have been passed around a bit more to provide Fergie with a few more solos. Available now from Interscope Records Universal Music Australia.
