A new Cheetah Girls movie means another Cheetah Girls soundtrack. This time the girls are less one Cheetah (Raven-Symone does not star in the film) but the girls still give a soundtrack full of Growl Power.
Track by Track
1.Cheetah Love - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
Cheetah Love is a strong opening for the soundtrack. It's an energetic hyped-up track with the message that the Cheetahs will "stick together for life". The line "Cheetah Love" is repeated with the girl's voice technically altered which gives the track an electrico-pop style to it.
2.Dig A Little Deeper - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
The track opens with a "bum bum" harmony from the girls and then explodes into a hip-hop inspired track. The distored voice technique is used again in the dance break with a simple singing of "D. I. D. I. G".
3.Dance Me If You Can - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
This track is a fusion of hip-hop and Indian styles of music to further express the different styles of The Cheetah Girls and Gita, the Indian choreographer. The song mixes from the different sounds as the girls battle it out showcasing thier different dance styles. The fusion between the two works well.
4.Fly Away - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
A slowed down track where the girls express how they don't want The Cheetahs to be over. The song doesn't have that real Cheetah feel to it and sounds like it would belong more on TCG, the girls offical debut album as a group, which makes sense seeing as a few of the songs were made from tracks that didn't make it onto TCG.
5.Stand Up - Performed by Adrienne Bailon
The first of the solo tracks sung by the girls out of character. The song has a Spanish feel to it and is reminiscent of "Do Your Own Thing" by Raven-Symone that appeared on the soundtrack to The Cheetah Girls 2.
6.What If - Performed by Chanel
Adrienne Bailon, as Chanel, is the only character in the film to recieve her own solo. This song expresses how Chanel wants to audition for the movie but feels it may break up The Cheetah Girls but doesn't want to spend her life wondering "What if?".
7.I'm The One - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
One of my favourite tracks on the soundtrack. The song is sung by the girls along with thier respected male friends. Each girl sings about thier own indivdual talents (Chanel; singing, Dorinda; dancing and Aqua; acting) and battle in the song against each other to be "the one". The song is very edgy and aggressive with a good hip-hop/pop feel to it.
8.No Place Like Us - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
The last of the slow songs on the album. Nothing too special.
9.One World - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
One World is the most prominent of the tracks on the album to include the Indian sound. The song's message is positive stating how we are all part of "one world". The song uses the sounds of India well and it creates a great sing-along-to track.
10.Feels Like Love (Bonus Track) - Performed by The Cheetah Girls
This would have to be one of the most poppiest songs on the soundtrack. It's a really good song that expresses each characters love.
11.Crazy on the Dance Floor - Performed by Sabrina Bryan
I was quite surprised by the song. It sounds very drippy whilst keeping a hip-hop yet a dancey feel to it. Although Sabrina's vocals are the least strongest of the three Cheetahs she really comes through in this song creating a new and unique sound.
12.Circle Game - Performed by Kiely Williams
Although it is the shortest of the Cheetahs solos this song is really good. It's very mellow and includes some interesting sounds.
Summary
The soundtrack is a fusion of different sounds. From pop to hip-hop to dance and Indian inspired music. The soundtrack is one to sing along to and reaches new heights from the previous soundtrack for The Cheetah Girls 2. Fierce.
9/10
